When doubt bumps try to trip you up
Your family has an opinion about what you are doing. Your friends, colleagues, and even perfect strangers have an opinion about what you are doing. Their opinion may or may not be well-formed, but still it is just that - their opinion. Their opinion may even be shared with the best intentions for you (or not), but still it is just that - their opinion.
And if you’re like me, you can get into the habit of letting every Joe Blow’s negativity in. And can then get into a worse habit of devaluing yourself. And devaluing your ideas before giving them a chance. And even if you do like your ideas, not trusting yourself to carry them out and see them through. This is what I categorize as tragic - undermining your own worth, and ending something good (that could create a lot of good in the world) before even getting started!
Having open ears and an open heart and mind is a beautiful thing - but without discernment and continually taking inventory, others' opinions can overflow and fill the mind with overwhelm and doubt.
(or: others’ opinions can cause an overflow, spilling an excess of overwhelm and doubt into the ecosystem of your mind) Because let's be honest - no-one knows your truth that has informed your current focus and ambitions. Only you do. So let's address this challenge head on! And see the surplus of negativity in all of its disguises for what they truly are - distractions.
When taken in disproportionally to positivity, negative comments can decrease the speed of your car
Negative comments about what you’re doing causes a shift from pure action to being inside of judgments
Akin to being inside of the fast lane, to being lost in thought
(and away from the precious present,
the point from which you are propelling your cause)
Instead, see those comments for what they are -
Little distractions, little speed bumps.
Instead of letting the comments settle in your soil and create mud,
You can pause and stop - and discern is this clean energy fuel, or will it wreak havoc in my system?
Rather than reversing backwards, go over the bump.
And with a shrug and a grin, you can take off and leave the comment in the dust!
You can take every negative comment as "gris for the mill!" towards creating negative feedback
(a systematic theory term, defined as the ability to create new change in an old system)
In other words, the ability to address a problem in an outworn system by introducing a new change
Every negative comment can be used to accelerate your car,
And to redirect it with greater precision in the direction of your purpose,
Fueled forward using your deft instinct, exert maximum leverage with minimum effort, and keep acting
Keep going, no choice but to look straight ahead.
If you want to reach your goal, clear space in the dense forest of others’ opinions.
Push the gas instead of the brakes.
Use clean energy fuel to start the car. This is powered from inside of you.
It's gear is automatic - just tap it
And of course, Push Accelerator to get over the distraction speed bump!
